MUD offers beginner-friendly pottery classes in Bellingham, WA, including handbuilding, wheel throwing, and longer ceramics intensive courses. If you are new to clay, an introduction class is usually the easiest place to start.
Class tuition includes clay, basic studio tools, guided instruction, glazing support, and bisque firing. Optional glaze firing for finished take-home work is $3 per pound. Students must be 18 or older, or 16-17 with parent or guardian permission.
Wheel throwing classes focus on centering clay, pulling walls, shaping forms, and building confidence at the pottery wheel through repeated practice.
Handbuilding classes cover pinching, coiling, slab construction, surface design, and functional or sculptural ceramics projects that do not require a pottery wheel.
